A blend of raw speed and years of experience from Luke Pinder and Co Driver Peter Scott saw off the opposition in the Swift Sport Cup on last weekend’s Rally Isle of Man. On the first competitive section of the rally Pinder and Scott took a 33 second lead from local driver David Harrison. They added another 13 seconds on the following stage and from then on it was all about getting the car to the finish and monitoring the opposition.
Pinder said “We had a massive advantage because Peter has vast experience of the Manx roads. The plan was to stun the other Swift crews with a couple of quick times, pull out a gap and keep an eye on the times and it worked very well. The car was faultless all rally; in fact, the only problem we had was catching and passing more powerful cars”.
The Rally Isle of Man win elevates Pinder and Scott to the top of the Swift Sport Cup championship (once dropped scores are taken into account). In addition they also scored an emphatic R1 class win and a fantastic 10th overall on the British Rally Championship event. They also recorded fastest stage times in the Swifts and R1 on every stage except the final two, by which time they were cruising to the finish.
The next event for the team is “The Ulster Rally” and although the rally is venturing onto stages around Antrim for the first time in many years the fact is the last time these roads were used, a certain Peter Scott was the clerk of the course!
The Yorkshire based crew is supported by City Transport & Storage Ltd, Corbeau Seats, Luke Harnesses, Colin Appleyard (Suzuki) and Bretts Fish Restaurant.
