West Yorkshire based rally driver Luke Pinder and co driver Peter Scott are pleased to announce that a partnership deal has been struck with Colin Appleyard Suzuki, one of the largest and longest established Suzuki dealership groups in the UK. For 2009 the 25 year old from Shipley is competing in the “Swift Sport Cup” a class for 1600 Suzuki Swifts within the British Rally Championship. The cars are all mechanically identical so the emphasis is on driver ability. The tie up with Colin Appleyard Suzuki also entitles the team to score points in the “Dealer Cup.”
Pinder / Scott finished the opening round in 2nd position in the Swift Sport Cup. “We managed to set 3 fastest times out of the 6 stages so given some more time in the car I think we can refine the setup to suit my driving style.”The next championship round is the Pirelli International this weekend on 17/18th April. The rally uses the notorious Keilder forest complex and the Friday night stages will be run in the dark.
Luke said “This is the first time we will display our allegiance to Colin Appleyard Suzuki so it’s important we put in a good performance, we will be giving it our best shot. The extent of the deal has yet to be finalised but just to be involved with a major dealership group is fantastic news.
